He will also be Putin’s deputy in the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation. Sergei was holding the role of Defense Minister in Putin’s cabinet since 2012. Putin has appointed 68-year-old Shoigu as the head of Russia’s powerful Security Council.

This change has happened at a time when Russia has gained momentum in the war against Ukraine. The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on since February 2022, in which thousands of people have lost their lives. Lakhs of people had to leave the area. This reshuffle happened at a time when Putin’s fifth term as President has started. Belousov becomes head of Defense Ministry

He said that the decision to appoint Belousov as the head of the Defense Ministry is related to the security block. Chairman of Accounts Chamber will also be appointed
According to the report, President Putin also proposed to appoint Boris Kovalchuk as the Chairman of the Accounts Chamber, a post which had been vacant for 1.5 years.
